Also on show is the manuscript of Rupert Brooke's well-known war poem The Soldier and a letter from Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to his mother in which he describes his anxieties about his son serving at the Front.

Other items on display include a handkerchief bearing lyrics for It's a Long, Long Way to Tipperary, a schoolboy essay about airship raids over London, and a knitting pattern for balaclavas."

The BBC has a typo in the article, which I've corrected above. You really think they'd know by now...
