On War Service Badge

My local museum has an On War Service Badge with the number 10075 on the reverse, is there any way of finding out who this badge was issued to.

Happy to be proved wrong but without the accompanying certificate I don't think it would be possible. Doesn't the museum have knowledge of it's provenance/donor?

Picture of certificate on this thread together with examples of badges for each year issued

As reported on this site there were over a million issued by 1916

[Pte Compton was issued a Silver War Badge not an 'On War Service' or munitions badge]

Thanks for the replies.

The museum has no information about the badge.

Thanks again.

I'll re-post the OWS articles sometime soon. They were originally researched and written because nearly everything posted about them (anywhere) amounted to -

Very clever Tom, and quite late in the evening.

Evenings and nights I can manage - but the idea that anything happens at 07:52 AM intrigues me.

Ref John Singer Sargent's famous painting (above), I don't believe I can be the only one who regularly groans at the sight of posts claiming that something made-up or entirely speculative is a "fact".

I'll post the OWS articles back on the www when I a ) have some spare time b ) find some instructions about how to get the stuff back on the www which actually make sense.
