Cliff Lonsdale Posted 8 June , 2014 Share Posted 8 June , 2014 Lt. Col. E. Hope Carson seems to be best known for his part in fighting with British forces against the Bolsheviks after the Great War. Before and after that he was in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). I am trying to find out what position, if any, he held there in August 1924. He is mentioned in documents I have found relating to a dispute over the unveiling of a war memorial to African troops who died in the Great War - and the context suggests he was in some way indirectly connected with the governor, Sir. John Chancellor. This research is for an article to be completed rather soon. Can anyone help? - Many thanks. Cliff Lonsdale.
IPT Posted 8 June , 2014 Share Posted 8 June , 2014 He appears in "Harrison's Business & General Year Book of South Africa and Adjacent Territories" (1926), as Secretary Southern Rhodesian Forces Lt.-Col. E. Hope Carson, D.S.O., M.C. (The Commandant, S. Rhodesia Forces, was Col. H. M. Watson, C.M.G., D.S.O.)
