Dan Morton Posted 30 May , 2014 Posted 30 May , 2014 I'm a model maker and for one of my next projects I'd like to use Ron Marshall's painting "A Drop for My Mate" (see attached illustration) as the basis for a 1/16th scale model. Please note that my purpose for posting the painting is NOT to violate Mr. Marshall's copyright, just to ensure the reader/viewer understands the project.I've made only a minimal start so far because I'm trying to complete other projects.I have attached some reference photos on the uniform and some of the equipment, but not much on the horse bridle, saddle, bags, etc. If you have reference photos and related info, would appreciate an assist. I'm also interested in measurements of the saddle and bags or anything similar. If you can't post it here, then send me an e-mail to dpzpmorton@cox.net.Many thanks!Dan
frev Posted 31 May , 2014 Posted 31 May , 2014 Hi Dan You should find a lot of what you need on the ALHA website: http://www.lighthorse.org.au/ Cheers, Frev
Jeff Pickerd Posted 31 May , 2014 Posted 31 May , 2014 Dan, Frev's link to the ALHA is a very good reference for the infomation you require, but be aware that much of this is directed to the needs of Australian Light Horse re-enactors and as such relates to the ceremonial dress and equipment. If you plan to make your model of the typical Light Horse attire and horse saddlery/equipment that site will fulfill your needs, but if you wish to portray the Light Horseman as they were during the fighting through the Sinai and Palestine a search of the Australian War Memorial photographic collection will give a more representative insight to the varied uniform dress and horse equipment. Jeff
Dan Morton Posted 31 May , 2014 Author Posted 31 May , 2014 Frev and Jeff - Thanks for your assistance! All the best, Dan
