Simon_Fielding Posted 30 May , 2014 Author Share Posted 30 May , 2014 On reflection, I wonder if the sheet number as been transcribed correctly? This puts them near Coutrai which might not fit with July '17 - would St JULIEN 28 NW 2) from C.22.c.63 to C.21.b.94. make more sense? Cheers Simon
Phil Evans Posted 30 May , 2014 Share Posted 30 May , 2014 (edited) Almost definitely Simon. That would put them SW of St Julien, approximately where Buffs Road crosses Admiral's Road. Simon_Fielding Posted 30 May , 2014 Author Share Posted 30 May , 2014 The 6 Border relieved the 7th S Staffs on the 22nd July - the Staff's history describes their position: on Sunday, the 15th, we went up to the line, assisted by a fine fire-work display from an ammunition dump which the Boche had objected to, and settled in about threequarters of a mile east of the Yser Canal, in front of La Brique, with " C " and " D " Companies in the front line and " A " and " B " in support, " A " being in Wilson's Farm, a nice palatial residence with a good view, two wide front doors and a private pump.
