Remembered Today:

More puzzling causes of discharge

Hello there -

Can anyone help with a puzzling set of numbers and letters on an Army discharge, please? I don't know if there's a set of references for these or not (I'm completely new to this area!). I have two discharge cards, one of which gives the following reason:

392 (XVI) RR [the first of these Rs is hard to read - it could be something else]

2 (a) 1

W

The soldier in question enlisted on 8-11-1915, and was discharged on 10-7-1918.

The second, which is attached, uses less code - I just can't read the first word giving the reason for discharge. I thought I'd add it to the posting, on the off-chance that someone has seen it before and recognises it.

Thanks very much!

Kitty.

Thanks for this Jim: it answers the question of what both records say on the first line. I suppose the rest of it can be guessed at to some extent (ie, the 'W' probably meaning Wounded). I actually searched the Long Long Trail site using the search-term 'discharged', and it didn't return that page - thanks for pointing it out, I'll bookmark it for future reference.

All the best.

Kitty.
