owen4256 Posted 27 May , 2014 Share Posted 27 May , 2014 I had understood that by early 1915 all divisions had raised a Divisional Cyclist Company. Having searched the National Archives in vain for a War Diary reference for the 42nd (East Lancashire) Divisional Cyclist Company and having also failed to find a Cyclist Company in the orbat on the Long Long Trail, I am now wondering if in fact there ever was a Divisional Cyclist Company formed by or attached to the 42nd Division. Grateful for any light that anyone can shed on the 42nd's missing cyclists. Clive

owen4256 Posted 27 May , 2014 Author Share Posted 27 May , 2014 Chris Thanks for the swift response. Will suspend quest for the 42nd DCC then! Regards Clive
Ron Clifton Posted 28 May , 2014 Share Posted 28 May , 2014 Formation of divisional cyclist companies was mainly confined to France and Belgium. 42 Div served at Gallipoli and then in Egypt, and by the time it reached France the divisional cyclist companies had mostly been combined into corps cyclist battalions.
