Jonty Wild Posted 26 May , 2014 Posted 26 May , 2014 I wonder if anyone has any information (or photographs) of the original Sherwood Cemetery at Beaumont-Hamel? The CWGC states: SHERWOOD CEMETERY (V Corps Cemetery No.20), about 700 metres North-West of the R.N.D. Cemetery. It contained the graves of 176 officers and men from the United Kingdom, belonging chiefly to the 36th and Royal Naval Divisions, the 17th Sherwood Foresters and the 17th King's Royal Rifles. Obviously I know that the men were moved to Ancre British Cemetery, but I still wonder if they were all found and moved or whether possibly some men could still lay in the original cemetery location, such as my Great Uncle, a signaller with the 17th, now listed amongst the missing.
