Guest Baldfrog Posted 25 May , 2014 Posted 25 May , 2014 G'day to all and my thanks for your consideration. I am researching the above. I would like to know 1. The role of the Cavalry in this conflict (I am pretty obviously a novice - it does strike me as odd that cavalry should be deployed in trench warfare, but perhaps that phase came later in WW1) 2. What the 3rd Dragoon Guards were doing on 6th November 1914 and thus the circumstances of Tom Seagrove's death 3. Whether he was killed outright, in the field, or wounded and died in a field hospital I hope any responses will be notified to me by email but I will check the site from time to time. Apologies in advance for any delay in thanking respondents. In passing, I am pretty fluent in French and would be pleased to help with any translations. Also I visit Paris quite often and could pop in to the museum of the Legion d'Honneur if anyone wanted any data from there. Tony

GraemeClarke Posted 26 May , 2014 Posted 26 May , 2014 Morning The War Diary is here http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/Details?uri=C7351530 Someone, however, may already have it so I would hang on for a short time as it is only 4 days you want. PS If anyone does have the diary I have just found out I need the entry for Tuesday 25 January 1916, Many thanks and cheers Graeme
