My great Uncle died on 5th april 1916 at Masopotamia


he was in the 6th bat south lancashire reg


he wa private walter ismael 11411.


I do has some information but it is quite hard to read some of the details on the documents adhaim


I think he was killed before the battle of adhaim as this was started on 16.17 april and he was already dead by then.#




any information would be greatly appriciated

Major general thanks for that,

the info I have is just from his records online which just give his reg details and when he was killed.

I have tried to find out what battles he was in and a timeline

so I could document a more detailed account of his war

Help again for his campain.

I do have his war recors but want to know where he was previous to this death at HANNAH POSITION

He died 05.04.1916 and was in the 6 batallion of the south lancs regiment.

has anyone got a link for the day to day diary of this regiment

I came across your thread and found a photo, taken from the Basra Memorial 2 years ago. It lists the South Lancs and Walters name is approx. centre of the plaque.
