Transcribed German letters from the Eastern Front

I have been transcribing and translating German "field post" from the Eastern Front on our blog.

The latest is an extract of an eye witness account of the storming of the Lipniki fortifications on the Eastern Front on July 13, 1915 by the RIR 249 and 250. Hopefully this is of interest. You can find it at our Ettlingen Blogspot under "Letters from the Battlefields":

You are doing a damn good job there, and I have enjoyed dipping into your posts!

Thank you so much Trajan - sorry I have just seen this!

I've added a lot to the blog in the last year and this evening added a new post about the sinking of the HMS Hampshire with Lord Kitchener on board, a transcription from our local newspaper in June 1916.

The post also includes another transcribed and translated letter from the Eastern Front.

Also most interesting for me.
My roots are in Poland, so my ancestors were in the German Army, several on the eastern front.
I use only English so your work brings light to a world that is dark.

Wow, thank you Martin. That is a really fabulous thing to say to me. And I do understand what you mean - I have so much more from the Eastern Front, and I know from my own research that there is so little out there, especially in English.
