A project volunteer on Luton's WW1 website, has researched the work of some of the munitionettes who were employed at the George Kent's works and the associated Chaul End Filling Factory.

Overview of the works here

The page above links to various biographies of the women involved in the dangerous work, as recorded on the Luton 'Roll of honour'.

Also linked via the above are .pdf plans of the Filling Factory itself.

Interesting site.

Do you know the exact location of the factory in Chaul End?

Hi johnboy. Loads on the site. I'm rather chuffed with the Biscot Camp stuff (all new research)...Have the war diaries of the site now, they're being transcribed. Plus the museum I work in was a VAD hospital, and we've discovered a tonne of new info' about it. Just search for my past posts to find more.

The site of the Chaul End works It is here.
