jansanderson Posted 19 May , 2014 Posted 19 May , 2014 Hello I'm looking for information regarding the unit in which David Slater 18892 served. He is listed on CWGC as having served with LNLR attached 1st Trench Mortar Battery. I know 1st TM was with the 1st Division which 1st Btn LNLR joined in Feb 1918 would that indicate he had been with 1st Btn LNLR before the attachment or am I assuming too much? His Mic gives qualifiying date for 15 star as June 6 1915. He died 14th February 1919 at home of influenza and pneumonia. Thank you for your help Jan
Ron Clifton Posted 19 May , 2014 Posted 19 May , 2014 Hello Jan Prior to joining 1st Brigade, 1/LNL was in 2nd Brigade, also in 1st Division, so it is not impossible that he joined 1st Light TM Battery before Feb 1918. He apparently landed in France on 6 June1915 (qualified for 14-15 Star) so he was not part of the original BEF of 1914, but joined as a later reinforcement. It is still possible that he was in 2nd Light TMB prior to Feb 18, and moved across to 1st Light TMB when his parent battalion changed brigade. Ron
