I believe Philip Smelter Cadman (as a Lieutenant, 1913) is second from the left on the first row.

Cheers,

I may have come late to this thread, but the word "polo" caught my eye.

Please do tell me what this project is - whether it is the war service of UK and other prewar Polo players? Or data on those who played polo while on active service at the front?

I am interested because of the Rugby Polo Club which was a leading club at that time and the reason why my grandfather moved to Rugby. The TF Officers and polo club overlapped. I have failed so far to locate any info about the Oxford University polo and the people who would have played there, so any website you have put up and info about likely sources would be much appreciated.

I've e-mailed my chum, the Curator of the Gurkha Museum, to see if he has anything on the two Gurkha officers. I'll let you know.

I'll also check this evening to see if I can turn up anything at home.

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately the Oxford years I am looking for are something like 1902-1904. I was just curious on a personal level about how my grandfather got hooked on polo.

Oddly enough, a;though they played polo in Rugby, I havent come across any mention in my RFA diaries, memoirs etc of a polo match at the front. They had shows and races sometimes involving other ranks, but no polo, whereas I came across a mention of a polo match in a letter from my uncle in the infantry.
