Mamble

Having been to both Adlestrop and Mamble I can say that they still represent the rural backwaters they must have been then (although Mamble has a nice pub)

For an elegy to the lost worlds that Beeching destroyed you can't beat The Slow Train by Flanders and Swan

I love The Slow Train - although OH points out that one of the stations F&S mention didn't actually close in the end; I forget which.

I have sheltered from the rain in the Adlestrop bus-stop but never been to Mamble. Nice poem :)
