Jojessholli Posted 15 May , 2014 Share Posted 15 May , 2014 Hi Guys, This may be a question that's impossible to answer, but I thought I'd try anyway. On 21st March 1918 (Spring Offensive, Operation Michael) 'B' Bty, 330th Brigade (East Lancs/RFA) were overun by German troops - the war diary states, 6 killed, 34 wounded and 63 'believed' to be taken prisoner. B Battery had the full force of the German might upon them, my Grandfather was part of 'B' battery at the time of the attack. Is there any way of knowing if he was taken prisoner? is there a register or some way of finding out? I'm led to believe that no one escaped or is that just a ridiculous assumption? Any help anyone can give me would be most welcome. Regards Vic
sotonmate Posted 16 May , 2014 Share Posted 16 May , 2014 The Long Long Trail states that the complement of an RFA Battery was 198,so a few seem to have avoided capture or worse. A name might help with any deliberations or checks.
