Remembered Today:

Makers of WW1 Medals

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have noticed W Mc M on a pair of WW1 medals that I have, I take it that these are the makers. Does anyone know what this is? If its a makers name who else made them and depending on the mark are there any rarities? Is there a site anywhere to get this information? I could ask a lot more questions but I'm sure you understand what I'm after.

Thanks in advance for any help it is always appreciated,

William McMillan designed the medal. The initials refer to him and not the maker.

Someone more qualified than me will be along shortly to go into the makers. British WWI medals, unlike German ones aren't maker marked.
