Help identifying RFC badge - silver wings and blue sheild

Recommended Posts

The attached photo shows one of my grandfather's RFC badges - silver wings with a blue shield with something silver on the shield and a crown above the shield - if anyone has any idea of what this badge is, please let me know. He was a Captain Engineer in the RFC 1916 - 1919 and served in 5TDS, Easton on the Hill nr Stamford and the Engine Repair Shops at Pont de l'Arche, Rouen.

Many thanks!

These are a ' Commercial ' Pilot's wings, they are not RFC or RAF.

Perhaps after the war, your Grandfather flew for one of the Airline Companies ?

Your ' Grandfather's badge ' is also from the British Overseas Airways Corporation ( B.O.A.C. ), probably from the 1950's.

Another version is attached.

...I think some things got muddled in the family memorabilia box!!

As I said, your Grandfather may have had a connection with B.O.A.C. ?
