Guest scott leader Posted 13 October , 2004 Share Posted 13 October , 2004 Pals Have a look at the MIC below:- Major C Morley 2/Manchester Reg, taken POW at Le Cateau 26 Aug 1914. Can any one give me any more info, their seams to be quite a lot? Scott
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 14 October , 2004 Share Posted 14 October , 2004 Exonerated officers list - after the war all officers who had been captured made a report as to the circumstances of their capture, which was reviewed by a panel (of 3 officers?), who determined whether ther officer had put up a good fight or merely stuck his hands in the air to go in the bag. This officer was exonerated so must have put up a good fight. Ian
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 14 October , 2004 Share Posted 14 October , 2004 Clasp & roses - refers to the Aug-Nov 1914 Bar on the 1914 Star, which he had to apply for.
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 14 October , 2004 Share Posted 14 October , 2004 He entered France on 16 August 1914..........POW on 26 August.........unlucky. The rest are medal roll references. The date 17 Feb 1919 could be when he was returned or might apply to the exonerated officers list - not sure on this one. Hope this helps.
