John_Hartley Posted 15 April , 2014 Author Share Posted 15 April , 2014 Dunno about the list but I've emailed to the Museum to see if they can put me in touch with the article's author. I'd guess McCarthy may be easier to find than Lane. I'm not sure from the article if they are modern day researchers or contemporary to the war. Can't find a C J McCarthy on the 1911 census for Dundalk.
Simon_Fielding Posted 16 April , 2014 Share Posted 16 April , 2014 I wonder if he's the CJ McCarthy of Dundalk on this membership list for the Society for Nautical Research? http://www.snr.org.uk/media/uploads/member_publications/2012_snr_members.pdf

Simon_Fielding Posted 22 June , 2014 Share Posted 22 June , 2014 If King didn't return to his unit, and the circumstance of his death and identity were unclear, might he be listed as AWOL / a deserter? Weren't lists of deserters made for the police? Was a list made of 'absent' soldiers at the end of the war?
