On the Forum on August 4th & 5th 2008 there are references to one of my family: Pte William Huggett (of Dorking & Bletchingly), G/5860 Queen’s Royal West Surrey, 1st Battalion.

Simon, I think, mentions that he has a medal and postcard belonging to William, and he also gives a quotation from the “Surrey Advertiser and County Times” of 9th September 1916: William had been reported missing, but was a Prisoner of War, and a letter from him to his parents was part of the “Advertiser” article.

Doug Johnson adds that William was probably at Ohdruf, a sub-camp of Langensalza.

I know that William died at Preston Hall in Kent in 1927 and is buried in Dorking, but his service records do not seem to have survived. I would be most grateful for further information.
