Hello,
how can I find more information about that Sgt. he survived the war.

Hi Claude

That 7 digit number is a post-1920 Army number which was allocated to the Royal Engineers.

There are medal cards for George Shallcross 10085 a private in the Scots Guards who was discharged witha Silver War Badge and 1258/240067 who was a corporal in the Cheshires. Do you have any more information?

I just found a J.W. Shallcross RE Mechanic Staff Sgt.number 12324, that could be his number during the war and after 1920 he would have 1851579?
what do you think about it?
