Location Information: Douala Cemetery can be found opposite the Catholic Cathedral of Rue Joss. The 26 graves, in a kerbed and centre filled plot, are approximately 15 metres to the left of the main entrance and 20 metres from the road.

Capt. E.S. Brand was killed in the first attack on Yabasi. He was commanding a detachment of 2 coys West African Regt, half-Coy Gold Coast Pioneers and 2 guns of the Gold Coast Gun Section. The attack was impossible to press due to swamp and thick elephant grass around the enemy position. Capt. Brand was killed, along with Col.Sgt. H. McGuirk and Staff-Sgt. F.C. Wade and 12 native soldiers.
