Son of Edmund Ernest Bentall JP [managing director of E.H. Bentall & Co. Ltd., iron founders, engineers and manufacturers of agricultural implements] and Maude Alice Bentall of The Towers, Heybridge.

Died 3/10/1915 (aged 18)

Vermelles British Cemetery (I.J.18)

Killed in action near the Quarries, Hulluch. Brass plaque in St. Andrews Church. St. Georges Church, Heybridge Basin (formerly used as the Sergeants Mess at RFC Goldhanger) was moved and dedicated in memory of Ernest Bentall in 1920.

This window is dedicated to him. The face of St. George is, in fact,.....Ernest.
