HAC/RFA numbers confusion

Please could one of you lovely artillery chaps sort me out...

Albert Hector Peacock apparently joined the HAC on 25th Jan 1918 and eventually joined their 309th Siege Batt.. His index card in the HAC archive has him down as a Driver No 626486. The 'London Gunners' book has him?, hopefully misprinted as G H Peacock, arriving in a draft to 309th Siege Batt. on 6th July 1918, as a Gunner. Lots of his colleagues in other drafts near that time also have an RFA number too, all close to Alberts. ( I cannot find any sign of a G H Peacock elsewhere.)

His draft comprised:

Gnr Barwood A E 298405 and 626338

Gnr Perkins W L 285741 and 626182

Gnr Scott J C 286493 and 626206

Gnr Roberts R A 286499 and 626218

His MIC has him as a Gunner but below is written RFA and No. 298230. His medal info is RFA 329B Page 45937. No doubt there was a renumbering somewhere.

His application for an emergency war commission in 1942 he says he was in the HAC from March 17 to May 18 and he was a Gunner. But a few details are suspect in that application form.

So, when did he join up and to where?

Many thanks

James

I just looked at the Medal Card as HAC were also infantry ! The card has confirmed your post as there is (art) in brackets after HAC !
