On board capital ships, usually in X and Y turrets, they wore a special RM rig of a blue serge frock with a single chest pocket on the left side, together with the standard anti flash gear. The latter's headwear when not in action was the RM pattern of Brodrick cap.
Graham Stewart Posted 21 February , 2014 Posted 21 February , 2014 And they wore a grenade pattern cap badge which was peculiar only to the R.M.A., however I have no illustration to hand.

Yes, they wore their own insignia on SD differently to that worn on the Brodrick cap. The grenade (and chevrons for NCOs) on the Brodrick and the globe and laurels surmounted by a grenade on SD.

tony paley Posted 25 February , 2014 Posted 25 February , 2014 I can recall seeing a short movie of the RMA detachment serving a 15'', they were wearing what appeared to be oilskins and souwesters, more like a Grimsby Trawler crew. Tony P
