In memory of my nan's cousin Douglas Arthur Albert Phillips who was killed in action this day 17th February 1917, the first day of the Battle of Miraumont. Douglas served as Private CH/18660 in the 1st RMLI, and had seen service at Dunkirk and Antwerp, Gallipoli (with Deal Battalion) and in France in 1916, being wounded on 13th November 1916 during the Battle of the Ancre.

Super picture Steve. This is a picture of Ancre CWG Cemetery on The Somme. A lot of his friends from the fighting of November 1916 will be buried here.
