SFayers Posted 17 February , 2014 Posted 17 February , 2014 In memory of my nan's cousin Douglas Arthur Albert Phillips who was killed in action this day 17th February 1917, the first day of the Battle of Miraumont. Douglas served as Private CH/18660 in the 1st RMLI, and had seen service at Dunkirk and Antwerp, Gallipoli (with Deal Battalion) and in France in 1916, being wounded on 13th November 1916 during the Battle of the Ancre. Rest in peace Douglas Kind regards Steve
Ghazala Posted 20 February , 2014 Posted 20 February , 2014 Super picture Steve. This is a picture of Ancre CWG Cemetery on The Somme. A lot of his friends from the fighting of November 1916 will be buried here.
SFayers Posted 20 February , 2014 Author Posted 20 February , 2014 Lovely photo Ghazala - thanks for posting. Kind regards Steve
