tootrock Posted 16 February , 2014 Posted 16 February , 2014 My French master had been a pilot in WW1, and having been promoted to Lieutenant in July 1917 was posted to Air Acceptance Park, Lympne, in October 1917. I have many details of his career and postingd, all of which were in England. Would his duties at the Air Acceptance Park have involved delivering planes to France? Any information gratefully received. Martin
Guest Posted 8 March , 2019 Posted 8 March , 2019 Dear Sir, I wrote a book about Lympne Airfield, published by Fonthill in 2014. It contains some information regarding No.8 Air Acceptance Park, so I am interested in your French masters story. I am still researching the history of this airfield, as there is always something new to find out. Would it be possible to view his account of the period he was at Lympne? - I would be most grateful. I live in Ashford, which is not far from the site, sadly not much remains these days. Sincerely, Anthony
tootrock Posted 8 March , 2019 Author Posted 8 March , 2019 Hi Anthony, I am afraid I can give you no further details regarding my French master and his time at Lympne. I only have his service details which merely state that he was posted there as a Ferry Pilot in October 1917, and that he was posted elsewhere in February 1918. Martin
Guest Posted 29 September , 2019 Posted 29 September , 2019 Hello Anthony, I was very interested to learn of your book about Lympne Airfield and wonder if you would kindly give me the title. My reason for asking is that my father was stationed there during the war as a flight sergeant and I would like to know a little more about the place, especially the type of work going on there. The only other book I know of is Lympne Airport in Old Photographs collected by David G. Collyer. My father's album has quite a number of photos taken at Lympne during this time which I would be happy to send you. Unfortunately they are not of best quality. Attached is a sample (with my notes)
