Pennyspencer64 Posted 15 February , 2014 Posted 15 February , 2014 Hello, My Grandfather Victor Harold Tyler was in the 15th service battalion of the Sherwood Foresters. His number was 73603. How can I find out how long he was with them/ where he went etc/how old he was when he joined? All help gratefully received.
johnboy Posted 15 February , 2014 Posted 15 February , 2014 If you go to Long Long Trail. top left of page there is plenty of info about how to research a soldier. You can then come here with specific questions.
Ellis1918 Posted 15 February , 2014 Posted 15 February , 2014 His service records do not seem to appear on Ancestry but his MIC indicates he went overseas after 1915. If you search on CWGC for casualties in his regiment those with numbers around his seem to have been killed around late 1917 to late 1918. You could assume he didn't enlist until the later stages of 1916 or early 1917.
Pennyspencer64 Posted 16 February , 2014 Author Posted 16 February , 2014 Sorry being dumb but what is his MIC?
