Kirsty Posted 14 February , 2014 Posted 14 February , 2014 Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with Lance Corporal 13881 David MOLYNEUX of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. I've found David MOLYNEUX on the CWGC and St. Helens Roll of Honour. I've checked Ancestry for service records but don't think they survive. On the St. Helens Roll of Honour website and Ancestry it says David MOLYNEUX is from St. Helens (Lancs) and also enlisted in St. Helens. However, no age, d/o/b or family information is given on either website. I think this soldier may be a man in my family tree but don't know how to confirm/prove this. I have; David MOLYNEUX son of Thomas and Louisa Ann Molyneux. Born in Haydock, Lancs c. January 1877. Lived in Parr, Lancs. Married Martha Hope and on the 1901 census has two young children (Alice and William). Has anyone got any advice on where I can go with this? Many thanks for reading. Kirsty
Coldstreamer Posted 14 February , 2014 Posted 14 February , 2014 Rwf museum might be able to help .cant remember off hand where it is apart from a castle in Wales ! Local paper of the time might have some info
Ron da Valli Posted 14 February , 2014 Posted 14 February , 2014 The RWF museum is at Caernarvon castle North Wales. Well worth a visit!
Ron da Valli Posted 14 February , 2014 Posted 14 February , 2014 I've just had a look on Ancestry and found: 1911 Census David Molyneux b1898 St Helens, 72, Duke St,St Helens Father: Hugh Mother: Isabella Siblings: Isabella 9 Hugh 7 Matilda 4 Terence 1 Apparently they emigrated to Australia as both parents Isabella and Hugh died there in 1927 & 1965 respectively. Can't find any death records for David though so I can't be sure it is the right man, but a distinct possibility Hope this is of help to you.
Kirsty Posted 14 February , 2014 Author Posted 14 February , 2014 Hi and thanks to Coldstreamer and Ron da Valli, The RWF museum is a great suggestion and I'd not thought of that at all, so thanks for that one. Re. The 1911 census. The family at Duke Street is a different lot of Molyneux's (but thank you for the helpful suggestion). Frustratingly, I just can't seem to find my Molyneux's in 1911. I have; David b. 1877 in Haydock Martha b. 1878 in Haydock Alice b. 1899 in Parr William b. 1900 in Parr All four family members appear on the 1901 census living at 32 Johnson Street, Parr (St. Helens), Lancashire. William is definitely alive in 1911 as he married in Parr in 1922. On William's marriage certificate his father is recorded as "deceased". Having the 1911 census would be helpful but it's determined not to be found - lol. Thank you, Kirsty
kathleen donaldson Posted 17 February , 2014 Posted 17 February , 2014 There is a article for Lance-Corporal D. Molyneux in the Prescot Reporter published 13th October 1916. Available of Microfilm at Huyton Reference Library and also St. Helens Library.
