seaforths Posted 11 February , 2014 Posted 11 February , 2014 I am aware that in many of the BW & V medal rolls for officers, there is a suspense list (usually at the front). However there doesn't seem to be one in the Seaforth roll. I am trying to locate a man in the roll and believe his medal issue might have been forfeited but I have been unable to locate him. Not only that, I cannot even find a medal card for him on Ancestry. I do have his WO 374 records from the TNA. His grave can also be located on CWGC. What occurred regarding his medals is, at the moment, a mystery to me. I wondered if anyone could shed some light on this. While there are suspense lists in other officer rolls there are also some dotted here an there throughout the roll. It might just be that the Seaforth Hrs. didn't put in a separate suspense list and all of their forfeited are mixed in with the rest. Any help/ideas appreciated
Sepoy Posted 11 February , 2014 Posted 11 February , 2014 Officers had to apply for their Medals and many did not bother. This could be the reason why you cannot find your guy. What is his name?? Sepoy
seaforths Posted 11 February , 2014 Author Posted 11 February , 2014 Sepoy, thanks for responding. That medals went unclaimed by officers wouldn't preclude them from the roll or from having a medal card. If the officer was killed or died if wounds NOK could apply for them. If I could find his card, I could locate him in the roll from the reference on the card. I have read through the roll and it is possible I missed him - there are a lot of names.
stuart714 Posted 11 February , 2014 Posted 11 February , 2014 Seaforth What is the officers name you are after? I have a copy of the roll myself - if you want another pair of eyes to look through it. The Suspense list is something I haven't found in my own research into Seaforth Officers Stuart
