Private Braithwaite Black 14982 Border Regiment, enlisted as a Kitchener Volunteer in Sep 1914, Joined 9th (Service) Battalion of the Border Regiment, it was the Pioneer Battalion of 22nd Infantry Division. The unit went to the Western front in Sep 1915 and then to Salonika, it was here he won the Serbian Gold Medal, sadly no one including the Border Museum knows what for, I tried the Serbian’s with no luck, any suggestions appreciated.
