Who was James Alfred Jones? The Canadian Great War Project doesn't list anyone under that name so he must have joined a British regiment.

"Ellen Jones was traveling aboard Lusitania with her infant son, William Edward Jones. They were British subjects from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They were traveling to England for the first time to see Ellen’s father-in-law, who was the sub-postmaster at Stow Heath, Bilston. Both Mrs. Jones and her son were lost in the Lusitania sinking." http://www.rmslusitania.info/people/second-cabin/ellen-jones/

I can see one obvious J A Jones and one James Alfred Jones for 1918 with British Army.

I don't think either are the right man though

The CWGC does have a Canadian soldier though for 1918

He enlisted 3 months after his family died.

The first man was only 19 when he died so a bit young to have a wife and child on the Lusitania. the Canadian man looks like a good choice,

The one I wondered about was a J.A. Jones of the Candian Dragoons but apparently it can't be him unless the CGWP has his name listed incorrectly.

Especially as he's listed as a widower on the attestation form!

Many thanks, that has to be him with his next-of-kin being in Bilston. Poor guy.
