2Lt Buddon - First British POW?

While reading material collected by Gen Edmonds for 1914 Vol 1 of the OfficiaL History and found at Kew under CAB 45/129, I came across a document entitled The Torgau History of the Retreat rrom Mons. This was compiled by officers who had been captured and were resident at Torgau Camp. Amongst them was a 2Lt E J Buddon Middlesex Regt TF, who is listed as being made prisoner on 5th August 1914. I can;'t find his name in Hart's Army List, but presume that he was doing something in Germany and got caught out by the outbreak of war . Does anyone know anything about him?

Cox & Co's list of officers taken prisoner shows

Lt EB Budden in the 8th Bn, no date of going missing, interned Holland 5/1/18(Exchanged) and repatriated 18/11/18. This online 1914 Annual Army List has him as 2/Lt EJB Budden and TNA suggests he went on to become a Captain.

PS I can't see him in the August 1914 Army List though

That really is most helpful. The answer probably lies in his personal file, which I will lok at next time I'm at Kew.

Again, many thanks
