Remembered Today:

My Grandfather enlisted on January 25th 1915 and left England on the 4th October 1915 to join the 9th Suffolks. I am trying to establish what basic training he would have undertaken and where this may have been carried out.

A lot? He seems to have had a lot training. I have seen records of men having between 2/3 mnths training so 8mnths seems a long time.

9th (Service) Battalion
Formed at Bury St. Edmunds in September 1914 as part of K3 and came under command of 71st Brigade in 24th Division.
30 August 1915 : landed at Boulogne.
11 October 1915: transferred with Brigade to 6th Division.
16 February 1918: disbanded in France.

From LLT top left of the page.

Strange he did not go 30/8/15.
