daggers Posted 11 February , 2014 Share Posted 11 February , 2014 I have just read on the war memorial at St Clement's Church, Toxteth that both their vicar and curate lost their lives while serving as chaplains. Revd. H.O. Spink, vicar, was killed in action serving with 55th (West Lancs) Division, having gone to the aid of wounded soldiers, and was killed by shell fire. Revd C.D.Plummer, curate, was also killed in action. He was a son of Canon F.B. Plummer, rector of Halewood, who lost two other sons in the conflict. TullochArd Posted 29 March , 2020 Share Posted 29 March , 2020 A rather old post but I see that you still contributing so this new-ish database may prove useful. The (generally much maligned) 'IWM Lives' site was frozen last year but is particularly rich in Chaplain-esque contributions - particularly "crowd funded" photos. Go to the Home Page and type in "Chaplains" then select "People" and it will happily reveal some 671 entries.
