Guest taylorpd Posted 17 January , 2014 Posted 17 January , 2014 I am looking to see if anyone's researched the Divisional Cyclist Company established in May 1914 by 1st battalion The Queens (Royal West Surrey) Regiment at Bordon. My grandfather, CQMS 6186 A W Taylor, served in it. Or can anyone point me to sources of information? My grandfather was awarded the French Medaille Militaire for 'gallantry during the operations between 21st and 30th August 1914' and I'd love to know more - my researches so far have not led me far! Thanks.
charlesmessenger Posted 17 January , 2014 Posted 17 January , 2014 He would have been a member of the 1st Division Cyclist Company. Unfortunately, its war diary only covers from July 1915 and so you should try the 1st Division war diaries, both G (Operations) and AQ (Administrative) at the National Archives, Kew. Charles M
