trav126 Posted 16 January , 2014 Posted 16 January , 2014 My mother's uncle Arthur Brailsford died on the 29th Octoberand is buried in the Royal Irish Rifles Graveyard Laventie Grave IJ9. I have looked at Captain Inglefield's book on the 20th Division and was wondering if anyone can find out when and where he was killed or wounded. The 10th War diary is not yet digitised but I have purchased the Royal Irish Rifles Diary and there is some fascinating stuff in it including a letter from a Brigadier General to HQ complaining about lack of communication. John
johnboy Posted 16 January , 2014 Posted 16 January , 2014 10th Rifle brigade were in 59th Brigade 20th [Light] Div. They landed Boulogne 21/7//15. They were not involved in an major battles until 1916. The war diary would tell you where they were and what they were doing at the time of his death. You may find something on the net re the brigade and division.
johnboy Posted 16 January , 2014 Posted 16 January , 2014 http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=183442 Read the above for more info. Stileto may be able to help from the war diary.
