mark holden Posted 11 January , 2014 Posted 11 January , 2014 I bought this in a job lot at a local auction. The question I have is that the ampoule itself seems 'fatter' than the ones I have seen while searching previous threads. Were there variations in style? thanks MARK
tocemma Posted 11 January , 2014 Posted 11 January , 2014 Mark, They do seem to vary slightly in size and colour, some have red printing for example. The important thing to remember with these is that they don't always date to WW1. I had several in a WW2 Home Front medical kit, which was packed in 1942. The patent date just refers to the design of the ampoule and not necessarily the actual date of manufacture. Regards Tocemma
mark holden Posted 11 January , 2014 Author Posted 11 January , 2014 TM, Many thanks. I guess I am hoping its at least of the period given the London address of the maker lacks any numbers after the 'N'. thanks again Mark
tocemma Posted 11 January , 2014 Posted 11 January , 2014 Yes you could be right Mark. I'll have a shufti at my examples tomorrow and see if there are any differences. Cheers Tocemma
trenchtrotter Posted 12 January , 2014 Posted 12 January , 2014 Similar to mine. Mine is in a tube with London W. No numbers after so earlier post code etc. I have a German one in a small corked wood tube. Very very slim and fragile. I admit paying quite a sum for the British example but given the German one which came from a WW 1 medical kit. TT
