sotonmate Posted 10 January , 2014 Posted 10 January , 2014 Mark Sylvester has a service and a pension record on Ancestry UK. He had two numbers, the 4-4669 you mention, and another due to the 1917 re-numbering of the Territorial Force,202082. He served in several units at war.first one in France was the 2/4 Battalion from 9 Jan 1917,then 1/4 Battalion from 25 Jul 1917,8 Battalion from 18 Aug 1917 and finally 1/8 Battalion from 8 Feb 1918. His Medal Card shows that he was discharged to a Silver War Badge, number B279192, on 1 Jul 1919 as a result of wounds. He later re-enlisted for a 1 year term on 7 July 1921 until 6 July 1922,in the 4th Battalion again.
