John_Hartley Posted 10 January , 2014 Posted 10 January , 2014 http://www.ww1-centennial.org/lynchburg-va-monument-vandal-arrested/ The Virginian city of Lynchburg has a fine memorial to the Doughboys who fell (even though, to my eyes, it is unsettling to see the names of the black soldiers listed after all the white ones). I happened to mention, on another (non military) board that I had been in the city in September and another poster drew my attention to the recent damage (a second time apparently).
pylon1357 Posted 10 January , 2014 Posted 10 January , 2014 So it was a female suspect, she accidentally broke it but then she threw the broken piece in the river?? Seems a little fishy to me.
mick1234 Posted 10 January , 2014 Posted 10 January , 2014 But on a positive note, the local people should be commended for their reaction and subsequent raising of 3000 dallars for the return of the part of the sword. well done all. Mick
KevinBattle Posted 10 January , 2014 Posted 10 January , 2014 Presumably she's helping in the recovery by being bungee'd into the river every yard or so until she finds it?
