daggers Posted 8 January , 2014 Posted 8 January , 2014 Have we any experts on naval chaplains? This parson was a curate in Liverpool pre-1914, and a minister in Switzerland to about 1916, but is said to have served with the Royal Navy 1917-19. Any information would be welcome as this is beyond my normal area of knowledge. Daggers
Carmania Posted 8 January , 2014 Posted 8 January , 2014 According to the January 1919 Navy List he was an Acting Chaplain for Temporary Service from 7 November 1917. He received the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
daggers Posted 8 January , 2014 Author Posted 8 January , 2014 Thanks for that. Any other clues as to ships, or bases from other sources? D
seaJane Posted 8 January , 2014 Posted 8 January , 2014 Navy Lists are out of my reach here but the National Library of Scotland has digitised theirs and they are available at archive.org - can be searched.
Carmania Posted 8 January , 2014 Posted 8 January , 2014 The only ship I've been able to discover is from the December 1918 List which has him on the light cruiser Hyacinth.
daggers Posted 8 January , 2014 Author Posted 8 January , 2014 Thanks all round. Very helpful, as usual! D
