Bernard_Lewis Posted 7 January , 2014 Posted 7 January , 2014 I can't see that this has been mentioned before so here goes (search results being variable). There is a new 'beta' version (I think) website that covers the above in terms of digitised content. Lot of Swansea newspapers on there but I don't know how comprehensive the coverage is. Its at: http://cymru1914.org/en/home I've used it and have turned up a few gems (for me, anyway). It is beta version and there is no print module as yet (I complained and was told it was 'under development). I used a copy page routine plus paste into Word which was fiddly but got what I wanted. It seems to be OCR based so expect some odd results. But if you get a 'hit' you can see the original paper (or whatever - its not just papers) though navigation is not as good as some other sites of a similar nature. Still a very useful tool, though, if you are looking at anything to do with Wales in 1914-18. Bernard
Andrew Hesketh Posted 7 January , 2014 Posted 7 January , 2014 It is a potentially useful resource Bernard, though sadly every local newspaper in my area (central North Wales Coast) is not available through this and when I contacted them they said they had no plans to do any of the ones I mentioned, even though they are already on microfilm. So, more opportunities for me to get boggle-eyed.......
David Porter Posted 7 January , 2014 Posted 7 January , 2014 For me the best thing was finding all the Western Command Orders for 1916 http://cymru1914.org/en/view/archive/005622181
