Gardenerbill Posted 2 January , 2014 Share Posted 2 January , 2014 Brigadier General A.J. Poole is mentioned in Alan Wakefield and Simon Moody's book 'Under the Devils Eye'. Page 77 in chapter 5 The First Battle of Doiran. 'Brig-Gen Poole (commanding 79th Brigade) sent forward two companies of the 8th Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry (DCLI).' 79th Brigade was part of the 26th Division commanded by Major General A.W. Gay this division attacked the most heavily defended section of the Bulgarian lines at Doiran and suffered very heavy casualties. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
