leigh Posted 30 September , 2004 Posted 30 September , 2004 Its nearly the weekend and my brain is fried...... I am trying to narrow down an officer to locate on my next PRO visit. All I know is he is 2LT Burrows in the artillery (probably RGA but could be RHA/RFA/RA). If I search the NA there are lots of officers papers with the surname Burrows. If I go through the MIC's then there are very few officers that come up. contenders I found were 2 Lt Burrows EWM RFA 2 Lt Burrows HW RgA 2 Lt Burrows PCS RFA Now I assume that Officers are in the MIC's. And also that if you served overseas in a conflict area you got the BWM VM etc. SO have I been searching wrong and I am still asleep or was there a special bunker somewhere in Hertfordshire manned solely by officers named Burrows that never served overseas, that goes to explain why there are so many officers from WW1 that did not seemingly recieve medals?? Regards Leigh
Michael Posted 30 September , 2004 Posted 30 September , 2004 Leigh I think I'm right in saying that officers had to apply for their medals whereas other ranks were automatically issued them. Hence, if the officer didn't apply he wouldn't have an MIC. Mick
