toy/model soldiers recommended for mass display of 1st july 1916

Can anyone recommend any maker of toy/model soldiers in 54mm/60mm size, which are realistic and varied in pose, and reasonable in price

to recreate the 1st July 1916, charge across no-man's land. I would like a sizeable display of 50 to 100 figures. [ either plastic or metal ]

Does anyone know of anyone who makes large scale displays like this ?

I am aware of the new William Britains figures, and the discontinued King & Country figures, but they are expensive, and lack variety of charging

advancing figures. I already have a based set of about 10 which were made by Frontline Figures around 10 years ago [ well painted, excellent figures

but i require more volume of figures ] Painted figures are prefered, but i'm sure painting could be mastered.

Has any Forum members done anything like this ?

It would be good to see any photos of displays, of figures charging across no man's land.

Jonathan - this advice from my contact in the model trade >

"Emhar 1/35 do ww1 Infantry & Artillery also Germans, they stand about 53mm high and come as kits. You have to stick arms and legs on etc. "

I'll PM his contact details.

Plastic 1/35 scale figures would be the way to go given the number of figures you plan to portray. For example, Tommy's War and Andrea miniatures produce beautiful resin and metal figures respectively but they would be expensive to purchase en masse. As above, look at Emhar and also Masterbox. The latter is producing several groups of 1/35 plastic Great War figures. I'd recommend also looking in on these websites: Armourama, Missing Lynx and Military Modelling for reviews of recent releases of Great War plastic figures.

Being a traditionalist when it comes to model soldiers it's 54mm ? Scale Link did a extensive range of 1916 period British army figures and not to long ago and the do turn up quite regular ,the other way but not sure on your modeling skills is the Airfix Multipose WW2 British and Germans that can be converted in to Great War period ,and as above check out the modeling web sites ,I would assume the next 4 years may see a reissue of long ago discontinued items and series of figures.
