The Appendices include unit citations for all Indian Order of Merit and Indian Distinguished Service Medal awards.

In the history there are some very telling comments on the total inadequacy of the peace-time Indian Army regimental depot recruitment and training system during the first two years of the Great War.

IARO officers were being sent out without formal training, and some drafts without even having fired a range course.
