Hello folks, I am researching a soldier named Charles Matlock, born in the Loughborough area, what I have found out about this man is that he originally served with the 2nd York and Lancaster regiment with the number 8996, then transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers, and was promoted to sergeant, with the number 30434.

Would Charles have been wounded in action then, thus being transferred to home service, if so were did the 2nd Y&L see action in the great war.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

30434 Sgt Charles Matlock, Northumberland Fusiliers - Currently his service with the N.F. is a bit of blank, as even the Medal Rolls fail to determine who he actually served with, but it possible he may have served with the 3rd(Home Service)Garrison Bn, before being transferred to the Class 'P' Army Reserve, obtaining a Silver War Badge in the process numbered B/207570.

You probably have all of his previous service details with the York & Lancs, but he did actually enlist on the 11th December 1907 and wasn't actually Discharged until the 27th February 1919, under Kings Reg's Para 392(xvi)a.
