Remembered Today:

2nd Lt J W Edwards, Worcs. Yeomanry - MC or MiD?

John(txic)

Recommended Posts

According to CWGC and "Officers Died", this man was awarded the MC.

However, his MIC shows "just" a Mention in Despatches (he led two troops in the Charge at Huj) and no MC. I'm confused - would you get two awards for the same action?

Comments, please.

The London gazette

MCs are (from what I have seen) are listed with the persons full name - put that into the search engine as a specific phrase (I got the full name from CWGC site)

http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/30450/supplements/35

put believe as I didn't trawl back to the start of the listings where it would say MC but as the above says new years honour (no citation)

and it helps with a name that is not common

Obliged, Coldstreamer. Thanls also for the date of his commissioning.

His MIC states LG 12th Jan. 18, p.797 - and there he is! There is no mention of his MC, though.

FYI he appears on Dudley's War Memorial, but sans his awards.
