BPJermyn Posted 20 November , 2013 Share Posted 20 November , 2013 I've seen cards or similar ones before but can anyone tell me what these are referring to? It is for Frederick Roberts #63775 and after his being killed there are references to casualty A639; Next of Kin M2615; W O list 23-4 Can I ask for a little guidance on these cards and their meaning?? Many thanks. BPJ
Sepoy Posted 20 November , 2013 Share Posted 20 November , 2013 They are probably simple correspondence references and War Office Casualty List numbers. The important number is his serial number 63755. Have you found his attestation papers? If not see herehttp://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-110.01-e.php?PHPSESSID=d8058t55g4va466qpnk5jkrrd2&q1=&q2=&q3=63755&interval=20 Out of interest where did you come across this card??? BPJermyn Posted 20 November , 2013 Author Share Posted 20 November , 2013 I have his full record and that is why I have this card. My questions was, as I have seen these cards before, was there anything significant in the numbers A639, M2615, etc. BPJ
tullybrone Posted 22 November , 2013 Share Posted 22 November , 2013 Hi, I think you might be better placed to raise this query on the Canadian Expeditionary Force Study Group Forum - if you are not already aware. I presume that the references are to various CEF army forms/telegrams/casualty lists that are probably no longer in existence. Phil Evans Posted 22 November , 2013 Share Posted 22 November , 2013 As I read it, his death is recorded on Casualty List A639 transmitted to NoK and Ottawa on Cable No. M2615 on the 23/4/17. The Casualty Sheet number is also shown on his grave registration card. Phil
